True to form I broke out a book to get historical material for this post.... but then I reflected

What happened to the covenant of common good?

We look out and see deep pockets of corporations profiting from war and paying politicians, thousands dying in a war, middle class in debt and paying more taxes, prisoners spend years in a Cuban prison with no rights, families suffering without health insurance. Is this being our brother’s keeper?

We need to believe

There is a creeping cynicism invading our national identity. The mental cruelty of this administration and politics as usual environment is taking a toll on us and the world.

We need Leadership

Iraq, Katrina, Jena 6- the environment - is this where we want to be? Our country has a foundation - the declaration of independence. On this we placed a building - the US constitution. And we fill it with life - leadership.

Our founding leaders yearned for change. It was not experience that built our nation. We were enslaved to Britain and had no voice. The average age of the constitutional convention delegates was 44. Possessing fierce intellect, sound judgment, and resolve they envisioned, collaborated and then established a new form of government.
